When Your Shoes Don’t Fit

Rick Aster
September 21, 2004

If I had ten pairs of shoes
That would be a total of twenty
I can’t imagine what I would do
If I had that many
Three or four or five pairs
Would surely be plenty
But I have one pair of shoes
They don’t fit my feet
So I don’t really have any

Yesterday I put my shoes on
Today I just can’t do it
So did my feet grow
Or did my shoes shrink?
Oh, the shoe fairies crept in
While I slept, I knew it
They stole my shoes
And left behind this smaller pair
I think

When your shoes don’t fit
Your feet don’t fit
When your shoes don’t fit
Your feet don’t fit
When your shoes don’t fit . . . seems like nothing fits

I couldn’t go out in the street
With nothing on my feet but my socks
So I made shoes from cardboard
That’s right, I cut them out of a box
I tied them together with string
And glitter to make them look chic
And when anyone asked
I explained that that’s what they’re wearing in Paris
This week

’Cause when your shoes don’t fit
Your feet don’t fit
When your shoes don’t fit
Your feet don’t fit
When your shoes don’t fit . . . seems like nothing fits

When your shoes don’t fit
Your feet don’t fit
When your shoes don’t fit
Your feet don’t fit
When your shoes don’t fit . . . seems like nothing fits

When your shoes don’t fit
Your feet don’t fit
When your shoes don’t fit
Your feet don’t fit
When your shoes don’t fit
Your feet don’t fit
When your shoes don’t fit
Your feet don’t fit
